Special Sandy Bridge

E 'was officially presented the new platform that Intel sees the introduction of the new 32nm processors with integrated graphics in the CPU die. It 's a major evolution that brings significant improvements in performance, fuel efficiency and cpu and gpu integrated than the previous platform. For our part we will focus on desktop CPU and chipset-specific in H67, mounted on m-ITX mobo, and integrated graphics.

A look at cpu:

As you can see the variety and choice is wide, there are cpu for all tastes, from the series K (unlocked multiplier), the dual core low power (35W).

chipset H67:

The 6 series is divided into the Intel P67 and H67. The main difference is: P67 H67 supports the integrated graphics do not. The second difference is that P67 supports PCI-E 2x8 (SLI & Crossfire), while H67 is a 16x PCI-E slot.

The bad news:

worry there are good, but the bad news first. The H67 does not allow overclocking of processors. The choices have led Intel to differentiate the market. For technical and marketing with SB overclock the cpu can be done only through multiplication and to do that we have the K series, but this only applies to the P67 chipset. With the H67 you do not have the ability to use multipliers, and so the ability to OC does not exist.

The Good News:

I told you that there was. As you can see in the above table the two chipsets are differentiated by features. One of the more well spent on the services to the more multimedia. The H67
fact allows to overclock the IGP and integrated RAM. This will ensure a further boost to the integrated graphics that has already improved a lot compared to Westmere.

Hope:

Hope has a name Z68.

Z68 is the Intel chipset that reserves for the second quarter of 2011, for some mysterious to others as we hope that restores life to the mainstream / entry level, which is heavily neutered as you understand the choices Intel techniques. As you can see in the table above the Z68 is simply a combination of P67 and H67. It allows you to take advantage of feauture of one and the other by adding small improvements such as caching for SSDs.
The hope then is the last to die, hoping that the mobo manufacturers, decided to produce some m-ITX with this chipset and when they come out.

It's not over:

The good news is not over H67 and the chipset as well as some disappointment gives us another surprise. The Quick Sync and this time it is his sole.
The Quick Sync is a tool for encoding and decoding of HD streams which increases the exceptional performance and lowers the power consumption of the process.

The innovative aspect is that this process is entirely entrusted to the graphics chip to relieve the workload the cpu first thing that slowed the machines.

Making IGP integrated and discrete GPUs simultaneously

The graphics are NTEGRA:

We mentioned that the integrated graphics on this platform is integrated in the day and then combined with the cpu. This has resulted in numerous advantages that result in a substantial increase in performance of GPUs. We have two types of IGP HD 3000 and HD 2000, essentially differ in the number of execution units: the former has 12 while the other 6. Then there is a differentiation of the integrated GPU clock and their turbo.
